A New Axis of Destination Retail in New Delhi: Inside the Gaurav Gupta Menswear Flagship

New Delhi’s luxury retail landscape continues to evolve beyond transactional shopping into immersive, culturally rooted experiences. With the unveiling of his first-ever dedicated menswear flagship at DLF Emporio, Gaurav Gupta introduces a new paradigm of destination retail—one where architecture, philosophy, and fashion converge to define the modern Indian man.

Spanning approximately 2,300 square feet, the boutique marks a defining milestone for the house and signals a long-term commitment to menswear as a core pillar of the brand. For the first time, the Gaurav Gupta Man is given a permanent architectural home—one that reflects not only how he dresses, but how he moves through the world. Positioned within India’s most prestigious luxury mall, the flagship reinforces the brand’s stature while addressing a growing national and global menswear clientele that seeks depth, craft, and identity in equal measure.

Conceived as more than a retail space, the store represents a strategic evolution for the house. Menswear here is not an adjunct to couture, but a fully realised design universe. “This space reflects how I think about menswear today,” Gupta shares. “It is fluid, sculptural, and introspective. The store becomes an extension of the Gaurav Gupta Man, where architecture and clothing exist in quiet conversation with one another.”

That conversation is articulated through architecture designed by Karanbir Duggal, in close collaboration with Gupta. Moving away from conventional retail formats, the boutique unfolds gradually through curved architectural volumes, controlled sightlines, and layered spatial transitions. The experience encourages discovery rather than immediacy, positioning the store closer to a gallery than a traditional shop floor.

Central to the spatial language is the philosophy of Shunya—emptiness understood not as absence, but as potential. Moments of openness are balanced with intentional pauses, allowing the garments to breathe within the space. Craftsmanship, silhouette, and materiality take precedence, framed by architecture that is calm, restrained, and immersive. As Duggal notes, “Emptiness was treated as an active element, allowing the architecture to feel intentional and deeply immersive rather than visually dense.”

The opening also serves as a reflection point on the evolution of the Gaurav Gupta Man. First introduced in 2017 at GQ Fashion Nights—with Shahid Kapoor as the inaugural showstopper—the menswear line has grown into a significant vertical with international visibility. Over the years, figures across film and culture have brought the brand’s menswear to global platforms, from Ranveer Singh at Vantara to Jr NTR at the Oscars, shaping a contemporary image of Indian menswear that is both sculptural and self-assured.

That evolution is now housed under one roof. While signature offerings such as tuxedos, bandhgalas, and ceremonial tailoring remain central, the flagship reflects a deliberate expansion into Indian menswear categories, including kurtas and Nehru jackets. The offering spans structured jackets, draped silhouettes, shirts, accessories, bow ties, footwear, and finishing pieces—positioning the boutique as a complete, design-led menswear destination.

Rather than operating as a seasonal retail outpost, the store presents the full continuum of the Gaurav Gupta menswear universe—past, present, and future. In doing so, it elevates destination retail in New Delhi, offering a refined, immersive experience for the modern, globally minded man who values fashion not just as attire, but as an expression of philosophy, space, and self.
